Zinc @ CS

Why Zinc? I needed a name for our cluster of cloud technologies, and we had already used up all the names of cloud formations during the 90's for our NIS domains. I had thought of the YP domains as clouds. So, I needed something new, and decided to think of "cloud computing" as metals. Zinc is a nice metal. It has a nice color and is fairly common. I think it's poisonous.

Zinc is a metal, not a cloud.
